To live free of economic domination by entities existing solely for profit, is illegal in many state jurisdictions across the USA, with regulations imposed on residents concerning safety as related to being networked into the grid of sewage and energy conduits, including electricity and natural gas, many of which are operated by investor owned corporations whose sole purpose is to create private profit above human needs.
Homelessness is enhanced by the regulations that are making illegal the act of living "off the grid". For example, encampments for those living without homes are not allowed the stability to afford the process of creating permanent habitation, because all human habitation, being regulated for safety, must be aligned into the grid, a process that would cost the governing agency millions of dollars levied as taxation against the working class.
Therefore, for the sake of enhancing freedom, the following archive is being provided. It will be updated as content is submitted.

Homes Not Jails - Rally, March & Occupation on Easter Sunday
START DATE: Sunday April 04
TIME: 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
AT: 24th Street & Mission Street, San Francisco, CA
Homes Not Jails [contact (@) homesnotjailssf.org] [www.homesnotjailssf.org]
On Easter Sunday, April 4th @ 12 noon.
Rally at 24th Street & Mission Streets followed by a march to the occupation site. Housing should not sit vacant when people are living on the streets. People should not not be evicted for profit. People's rights should come before property rights. Come out and let your voice be heard.
Due to for-profit evictions, real estate speculation, and indifference to human suffering and need, hundreds of buildings or housing units sit vacant in San Francisco while thousands of people remain unhoused. Our purpose is to publicize and protest the injustice of this situation -- as well as to assert the right of people to sleep inside vacant buildings instead of sleeping in front of them.
People should not not be evicted so that landlords, banks and developers can evade local laws while driving up rents. People's rights should come before property rights. As San Francisco City Hall, Police Chief Gasçon, and merchants strive to outlaw sitting and lying down in public, Homes Not Jails squats in defiance!

Two students arrested at SFSU for organizing occupation of Student Union building in solidarity with SFSU 11 students facing penalties for previous occupation, 2009-12
2010-03-13 message posted by Kristin Koster to the UC Davis General Assembly Google Group:
Urgent Court Solidarity Needed: 9am in SF!
The two students at SFSU who were arrested and detained for the attempted occupation of the SFSU Student Union on Wed. morning this week have just been released (yes, it's 3am on Saturday!) and are headed home right now. Their charges have been reduced to misdemeanors.
The SFSU occupation was in protest of fines (now around 850.00 per student) leveled as part of misconduct charges against 11 students involved in a two-day occupation in December, where students barricaded themselves (by masterful use of blue chairs and zipties) inside the business school.
One of the arrestees many of us remember, as she came from UCB to support the Shields Library Study-In in January, and helped throw the amazing midnight dance party in the microfiche room. She was also part of the freeway protest and mass arrest on March 4th in Oakland.
The arraignments will take place at 9am Friday (today) in SF, at 850 Bryant, dept 13.
Though it's very last minute, court solidarity is urgently needed, and would mean a great deal at this point. If you have friends, or can make it yourself, please try to.

UC Davis Police attacking students!
2010-03-09 message posted by Ashkon Alimoradi [aalimoradi (@) ucdavis.edu] to the UC Davis General Assembly Google Group:
To add to the already long list of injured,
I know that my friend who was present with me at the protest, had a swollen right hand after using his hand to protect his legs from being beat with a baton. He has since gone to the doctor and has confirmed that his metacarpol (finger bone) is broken. His legs and back have HUGE bruises, at least half a foot diameter each, with clear baton indentations. We have documented the injuries and want to add it to a comprehensive report of police brutality during that day. Does such a list already exist?
