Solano County rehabilitation program for the incarcerated expanded

"Solano County wins funding for jail classrooms"
2013-12-13 from "The Reporter" [http://www.thereporter.com/news/ci_24716116/solano-county-wins-funding-jail-classrooms]:
The Solano County Sheriff's Office submitted a proposal to the Board of State and Community Corrections back in October in an effort to secure funding to construct classroom and vocational spaces for offender rehabilitation programs.
On Thursday, the county learned the project will be recommended to receive a conditional funding award in the fully requested amount of slightly more than $23 million.
The funding comes under SB 1022, a bill that provides for the upgrading of local jails to include rehabilitative program space that meet Gov. Jerry Brown's prison and public safety realignment goals.
Of California's 58 counties, 36 sought funding and 15 were notified Thursday that they have been selected to receive awards.
